Idol Judge Crazy Talk: Is Aerosmith Done?
Now that Kara DioGuardi is officially gone from "American Idol," the announcement of the new judges is said to be imminent. The new panel is rumored to include original judge Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler.
That Tyler's rumored Idol gig is about to become officially official has stoked up the simmering Aerosmith feud. The band's Cocked, Locked, Ready To Rock Tour wraps next week in Vancouver. Joe Perry says he can't promise when the band will tour again.
"Technically speaking, after the gig in Vancouver (on Sept. 16), I don't have a job with Aerosmith. We know these are the last shows for awhile. And I really do mean awhile. I don't know when we'll be out there again.."
Perry is discussing replacing Tyler again, observing "I'm not going to sit around for two years waiting for him to come back to Aerosmith."
Perry doesn't seem to like Idol, either.
"It's a reality show designed to get people to watch that station and sell advertising. It's one step above (Teenage Mutant) Ninja Turtles...I don't want Aerosmith's name involved with it. We have nothing to do with it."
Aerosmith has been having issues since Tyler fell off of a stage in 2009. Tyler did rehab and was almost replaced already.
