The first Massachusetts gubernatorial argument discussion debate took place last night. Bostonist was bored watching it.

Green-Rainbow candidate Jill Stein, who was largely ignored by the boys, Gov. Deval Patrick, Republican Charles Baker, and independent Timothy Cahill, rightly described the exchanges as bickering. Baker responded to Stein with "I don’t think this is bickering." He bickered about whether or not there was bickering.

Baker tried to link Cahill to Patrick, blaming both of them for the economic and budget issues facing Massachusetts. Cahill talked about cutting spending on the state's health care system, which felt like an indirect means of blaming Baker and Patrick for any health care concerns.

One important issue was jobs. Cahill pledged to push for casino jobs. Stein pushed for more green jobs.

Baker and Cahill talked a lot about cutting taxes and spending. Stein and Patrick defended efforts at keeping government services intact.

Cahill and Patrick managed to agree on the savings from the School Building Authority. Both said the cost of building schools was cut. Except in Newton.
