Dancing Hipsters

Brooklyn DJ Kingdom has been burning up the hipster dance circuit with his bass-heavy R&B remixes. He spins a "Brooklyn take on the UK garage sound" that incorporates Latin rhythms, dusty vocal samples, kuduro and juke, for a sound that might be the future of dance for the people in the tapered jeans. Performing at the always reliable Beat Research dance party. Enormous Room, 567 Mass. Ave., Cambridge, 9 p.m. Free.

Wine

Our old friends at the Second Glass wine magazine offer a second shot at picking the right Thanksgiving wine. Thanksgiving dinner can be a hard thing to pair with wine—even more so when you're attending a potluck—which makes the friendly advice of the experts a welcome thing indeed. The Wine Gallery, 375 Boylston St., 7 p.m. $10.

Movies

Even Woody Allen stalwarts might have missed The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985), a film about a desperate housewife, which makes tonight's screening, with the film's cinematographer Gordon Willis, an excellent opportunity to brush up on it. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $10.
